Mexico City

nnn
We met up with Bruce Preston, (our first team of one) in Seattle and traveled together for the remainder of our flight to Mexico City. We arrived at about 6am on the morning of March 23rd. We were picked up by our friend Deyanira and her friend Jesus (the father of a family she had been ministering to. There were three of us with 7 suitcases of different sizes and we all (5 people) got into her Geo Metro and headed for our apartment. Being able to fit in the car was our first major miracle. She took us to our apartment and then to the store to stock up on some things and then we were ready to head back to our apartments to take a good nap!

The next day Mikki and I spent some time with Pastors Juan Jose and Lucero Aguilar. It was great to reconnect with them and for Mikki to meet them.

Sunday Morning, March 25

Sunday was an exciting day! Pastor Todd Ruggles picked us up in the morning at 8:45am and took us to his church in Cualjimalpa. We arrived at the church a little before 10am. It was great to see Todd and Tracy and their boys (Jonathon & Benjamin) and all the people of their church. We saw many familiar faces from last year and had a wonderful time together.

After a time of great worship, the message was on developing our spiritual senses to discern what is happening in the spiritual realm. At the end of the message, the first word of knowledge for healing in the right lower leg area. There were about 6-7 people that responded to that word of knowledge and experienced healing in their bodies after prayer. There was great rejoicing throughout the church as people shared the testimony of what God had just done in their bodies!

One miracle that happned on this Sunday was a young man (above picture to the left), who had, from birth, had a problem with his right foot. When he walked he could not put his heel down first with his right foot. There was something wrong in the pivoting part of his foot. God healed him and the more he walked the better it was. His body had to unlearn the habit of walking the old way. He had a great big smile on his face.

I and Todd as my interpreter continued to pray for the sick. Mikki also began to pray for the sick with Tracy (Todd's wife) as her interpreter, and Bruce (our team member) had a brother named Manuel as his interpreter as he prayed for the sick also.

There were many backs that were healed instantly. Several knees were also healed instantly. We saw a number of respiratory problems healed.

A young mother with a gastro-digestion problem was healed. She received prayer and then went and ate some foods that she had not been able to eat without problems for many years. At first it began, the old painbegan to bother her again, then she received some more prayer and was totally healed. Glory to God!

We continued to pray for the sick and see God do many wonderful things for a couple hours.

We left the church after 3pm and went to Todd & Tracy's home for a BBQ. The food was delicious and the fellowship was even better! It was great to be able to spend the day with them. We got back to our apartment around 10pm. We were tired and ready to get a good night’s sleep.

Monday Night, March 26

Monday night was a great time. It always is at the home of Mario and Jeny Hector. The people are so open to and hungry for God. I shared on letting God break the limitations that we have put on Him, on the church, and on ourselves. Then  a word of knowledge came about healing in the hand and wrist areas. Five people came forward and they were all instantly healed. One was a young girl was named Ruth. Ten years ago she injured the tendon of the middle finger of her left hand (she is 13 years old now). She has not been able to move the finger for 10 years. God healed it and then used her to pray for and see another lady healed. Below is a picture of Ruth and Dave holding the finger that God healed. God healed many others over the course of the evening.

After that, we began encouraging everyone at the study to believe God for a word of knowledge that would bring blessing to someone else. Many responded with words of knowledge that they had received. One of the highlights for me was a particular gentleman that came up to me with his wife. I had an opportunity to pray with him for some deliverance last year when we were at Mario & Jeny's home. He had a severe problem with alcohol and major liver problems at the time. God healed him last year and delivered him from alcohol. He has been clean & sober for a year and looked like a different person! So happy and thankful for what God had done (picture above in the middle).

Mikki had a number of people, young and old, who came up to her and told her how God had fulfilled the prophetic words that she had declared over them last year. It was very exciting for her about the things that had happened in their lives since she had last seen them.

The Monday night meeting started at 7:30pm and we left the home around 1am. It was a great time of reconnecting with many people we have been with in previous years.

We had the privilege again this year of connecting with Oscar & Evelyn Baez and their son Levy. Oscar runs a Christian publishing Company in Mexico City as well as a Christian radio broadcasting program. He also works with at-risk youth and the homeless. We are planning to work with him on future trips. They are expecting another child soon!

Reyes District, Mexico
Tuesday Evening, March 27

On Tuesday night we ministered in a church pastored by Alberto and Sara Hernandez. It was great to get to know them and their family. Their son-in-law, Joseph, was my interpreter and he did and excellent job. Joseph is originally from the US. About 50% of the people that were there were invited by others and came as a result of the advertising and flyers that were handed out in the community. The meeting started about 6pm or so. Their church is in the Reyes (Kings) District.  For many, it was their first time to a Christian service.

After a short time of worship, I began to minister on God's desire to manifest His Kingdom in our midst and ultimately through each one of our lives. After receiving and sharing a word of knowledge we began to pray for the sick and one by one each one was healed.

Mikki's focus seemed to be on inner healing and deliverance as person after person came with their problem. The main area was dealing with anger and rage.  Interestingly, it was almost all women and even children that came for prayer, and the Holy Spirit really ministered to them.  After the meeting, at the dinner time with the pastor and his family, it was revealed that one of the ladies that had come forward for prayer, deliverance and healing was a woman that had y been released from prison 2 weeks previous for the kidnap and murder of a child.  She was incredibly broken and touched by God.  The children (aged from 4years old to about 8 years old) that came for prayer recognized the areas of healing they wanted the Lord to touch, and they were very receptive to the Holy Spirit.  It was awesome!

Most of the healings that night involved pain in one part or another of people's bodies. Some healings were pretty dramatic as people felt all their pain leave during prayer. Many of the infirmities were chronic or even from childhood.

At one point in the service there was an alter call for those who were not yet saved. Many people were ready to give their lives to the Lord after they see His power demonstrated!

Towards the end we asked for everyone that would like to have an increase of the healing anointing on their lives to come forward. There was such a reponse that we had to divide the people into two groups and pray for one group first and then the other. God began to pour out his Spirit one each group in such a way that there was great joy and laughter as people received His touch. Many people could not get off the floor. It makes you realize why some people in Acts chapter 2 thought that they were drunk. As we talked to several of the elders of the church, they shared that many of the people receiving such joy had been in deep depression or battling very difficult situations in their lives for a very long time, and that this was the first time they had seen them laughing with joy for quite a while.

The Bruce Report: "I would just like to report how God healed many people of all kinds of pain before I had even finished praying for them! They had many tears of joy and testimonies of healing."

In this meeting many people were healed and set free from many bondages and captivities. It was so exciting to see God manifest His Kingdom and change the very atmosphere of the meeting.

Afterward, we had a meal with the Pastor's family and some leaders in the church. We left the church at about midnight. This was the first time we have ministered in this church, but we could tell a bond was being formed and we will connect with them every time we come to Mexico City.

Texcoco, Mexico
Wednesday, March 28

There was a family staying in an apartment next to ours that offered to give us a ride to Texcoco for the second leg of our mission trip. It was a great blessing to us even though we were paying them to do it. On the way there God gave me a word of knowledge concerning pain for one of the ladies in the van with us, in her shoulder and arm. When we arrived at our destination in Texcoco, I asked the lady if she was experiencing pain as I described above. She confirmed that she was, so I asked if I could pray for her. After a short prayer all the pain left and it created another opportunity to pray for the other lady in the van. Life with God is an adventure!

We all got settled in our hotel in Texcoco. To our surprise, they have internet access and so were able to keep you posted almost daily! It has been so good to reconnect with Pastors Manuel and Claudia and the wonderful people of their church. They have a very special place in our hearts.

We had a meeting Wednesday night (March 28th) with the Texcoco Church. The name of the church in english would be Source or Fountain of Revivial. There were probably 75 - 80 people in the midweek service. The message was on the importance of having a hunger for God and for the things of God, experiencing His presence and taking risks in faith to see His Kingdom manifest. There were many healings and also a release pf great joy in the meeting. The joy and laughter was much welcomed!

Thursday Night, March 29

On Thursday night we met in Pastors Manuel and Claudia's neighborhood with several of their neighbors. It was a fun time! Since most of the people there were very new in their relationships with God, I shared several scriptures that would be of value to new Christians and then God began to heal... After several healings and prayers of blessing over each of the people, we had a meal together. It was a great way to spend the evening and we all had a wonderful time. But, unfortunately, we forgot our camera and as a result we have no pictures to share with you for this event! Sorry!

Friday Night, March 30

On Friday night there was a special meeting planned for the youth. They normally meet on Saturday nights but the church had a dinner for couples planned this partcular Saturday night. I shared some scriptures about where true "life" is and isn't found. After the message there was a time of prayer for everyone that wanted prayer and EVERYONE responded. Many young people were encouraged through prayer and prophetic words as Mikki, Bruce and I  prayed with each of them.

Saturday Night, March 31

On Saturday, we had a wonderful time with about 80 people for the couples banquet. The many foods were delicious and there was a great time of fellowship. Bruce shared an exhortation for the men first. Then Mikki shared a special message to the women. Afterward I shared a message mostly to the men and at the end of the message 8 people gave their lives to the Lord. After that we asked any couple who would like to experience the grace of God pouring into their marriages to stand up and EVERYONE stood. It was a wonderful evening that ended with God pouring out His Spirit of Joy (Gozo) on many people and there was great laughter and joy. Lord, we all need more of this in our lives in the U.S. too!

Our last meeting was on Sunday morning, April 1st. For Mexico it was the beginning of Daylight Savings Time (no one should have to face losing an hour more than once a year). I made an interesting mistake on Saturday night by accidentally changing my Palm Pilot time (and thus our morning alarm...) ahead two hours instead of one. We were up plenty early for church!

The worship was great as they sang many songs that were familiar but in Spanish. I shared on letting God shape our internal realities by His Spirit and by His Word. Mikki had a word of knowledge at the end of the message and began to pray for people with headaches. I prayed a corporate prayer for people who were discouraged and disappointed and then had a word of knowledge concerning lower back problems. Person after person were instantly healed of every imaginable problem. Back pain, arthritis, respiratory problems, car accident injuries, children with multiple problems (sinus, allergies, hip and leg problems, mouth and palate problems). Many cried for joy as they were healed. Others just beamed with joy. One woman began to sing praises to God (very loudly) as God healed her. As they would one by one share their testimony of what God had done, the congregation would jump to their feet clapping and praising God!

After many were already healed, we asked anyone who would like to have in increase in the healing anointing in their lives to come forward for prayer. Probably about 30 people came forward. After they were prayed for, those who had come forward were released to pray for the remaining sick people. And the testimonies continued to be shared! As those who had just received prayer for an impartation prayed for others, they saw God heal the people they prayed for. It was a glorious time. We left the church at 4:15pm.

The Bruce Report: “From the eyes of our first team member”

Hola everyone,

Greetings from Post Falls, ID. Here is just a quick overview of my mission trip to Mexico…

I left on Thursday March 22nd and took a “red eye” flight and returned the evening of April 2, 2007. I went with Dave and Mikki Jones, who started a missions organization called “Destiny Missions International”. Their mission organization is connected with Randy Clark’s “Global Awakening.”

It is hard to put into words all that God did while I was there. We worked with pastors in Mexico City and Texcoco. Meetings were set up for us to minister at, some were smaller, under one hundred and some were closer to two hundred people. Usually Dave would speak with the aid of an interpreter. He would then have a “word of knowledge” (a revelation from God) about someone having pain in some part of their body and invite those that had that problem to come up to the front. Dave would then pray for the first several people and God would heal them. Others were then invited up who needed healing of any type and Mikki and I would begin praying for people also. It took me awhile to get used to how quickly God would heal people.

Previous to this trip, I was used to praying long prayers with my eyes closed just hoping that something would happen; I rarely probed to find out if anything was. God is changing my perspective, (renewing my mind). I have learned to pray shorter prayers and then find out what God is doing in the person’s body. Virtually every time I asked the question, “Sientes algo?” (Are you feeling anything?) the person would respond in the affirmative. Usually it was a long explanation to the interpreter that most of the time boiled down to “menos dolor” (less pain) or sometimes “mucho calor” (much heat). After praying for the person again, a time or two, their faces would be lit up with joy as they realized that the pain was completely gone.  For the most part, it seemed that each succeeding meeting had a greater anointing (pouring out of God’s power) for healing especially as it related to pain.

The people were so grateful and welcoming. It was so cool to see the smiles of excitement come over their face when they realized that God had healed them. Many used the microphone to testify, with tears, of what God had done. There were those that received inner healing as well as physical healings. Just to give you one example in this brief overview, I had a young boy come up for prayer because his ankles would hurt when he would run, especially when playing soccer. I prayed for him and the small amount of pain he had in just standing there left. I asked him to run around out in the courtyard and then let me know how they were doing. Later he returned with his father who had tears in his eyes as they explained to my interpreter that the boy had been pigeon-toed but now his feet were straight and without pain in the ankles.

I am so thankful to Jesus for using me to touch so many lives with His love in the form of healing. Of course the greatest experience of His love was when those who did not know Jesus and His salvation responded to the Good News and gave their lives to Him and received the gift of sonship and eternal life. I give all the credit to “El Rey” (the King) Jesus. I also want to thank Dave and Mikki Jones for inviting me along and discipling me in this work of the Lord…

In awe of HIM,
Bruce Preston
