Trujillo, Peru

We are excited to share this report with you. My time in Peru felt very fruitful and it was wonderful to meet pastors and be able to spend time with them to begin developing relationships.

---------------------------------------------------------- Pastor Hugo

It was also very good to be able to spend time with Pastor Hugo and catch his heart for the nation of Peru, as well as have an opportunity to just get to know him better personally. He is a very apostolic/prophetic man and I was amazed at all the young people that hung around him. He is a spiritual father to many, many young people in Peru and there are many churches spread out over the nation that he is connected with.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hugo, Myself, Alfonso

--------------- Alfonso (My Interpreter)

It was a Spanish immersion time for me during a lot of the trip because Alfonso was not with me much of the time. It was fun hanging out with the young people (jovenes) and singing songs together in Spanish and in English. They taught me how to say words and phrases in Spanish and I would teach them words and phrases in English. Many times I found myself in situations where I was with no one who spoke English and we just had to communicate the best we could.

I came home from this experience with a greater determination to learn Spanish. I have been studying and learning Spanish for several months now and this experience forced me to activate what I did know and put it into practice. But I am going to be much more fluent when Mikki and I return to Peru next year! I am emailing back and forth with pastors and many of the young people and it is further forcing me to activate my Spanish.

Something very significant happened on the first day that I arrived in the city of Trujillo (population of over 600,000). That day several pastors met Hugo and I at the airport as we arrived from Lima. We drove around the city a little bit and eventually ended up at a gathering of the officers for the city ministerial association (Fraternidad de Pastores). There was a pastor there who spoke English and they, through his interpretation, welcomed me to their city and presented me with a special plaque (which they all signed the back of) that was based on Isaiah 52:7 (Blessed are the feet of those who bring good news).

---------------------------------------------------- Plaque from Pastors Assoc.

They said, “We receive you into our city in the name of the Lord”. I was blown away to say the least at this gesture. We had a wonderful prayer time together and then the president of the association encouraged the other pastors to come to his church the following evening (the 2nd church I would preach in) for a time of prayer and impartation for pastors at the end of the meeting. It was a very special time.

I ministered in 5 different churches during the 7 days of ministry time we had there. There were 12 different ministry times in these churches. The people were wonderful and hungry for God, expectant of Him to come. It was a great spiritual environment to minister in. Miracles came very easily and I preached the messages that God had been putting on my heart over the last few months. At the end of every message we would all stand and invite the Holy Spirit to come and see what He wanted to do. This is usually when the healing would begin through words of knowledge. God did many, many wonderful things as He touched people's bodies, hearts and lives.

We saw healings take place in every service we had except for one service where Pastor Hugo asked me just to preach and then they were going to have a time of consecration to God. God showed up powerfully at that service in ministering to and touching people but it had a different flow than healing. It was a wonderful time and the river of God really flowed and it turned into a time of great rejoicing and celebration before the Lord.

As I have shared with you before that culture of the churches in South America is very wonderful. They are so grateful and thankful for anything God does and to anyone that God uses that it is overwhelming at times. They are such a gracious and hospitable people. It is very hard to leave them when the time comes to go as one becomes so easily attached to them and their great love for God. God has given Mikki and I such a love for these people and it is such a joy to be with them and see God move among them.

One of the most interesting churches I ministered in was in a school. It was a school that had over 200 students. Most schools have a kind of Catholic twist to them in Peru. The Catholicism of most Latin American countries is quite different than the Catholicism of the USA. In these other countries it is usually a mixture of Catholicism and other things (witchcraft, other religions, etc). The director of this school experienced a radical conversion to Christianity about 4 years ago. She immediately implemented the Bible into the curriculum of the school. As a result many parents left with their children but ended up coming back because there is no other school of this caliber around. When I walked into this school and was given a tour, I sensed such a spirit of excellence. It was incredible. As a result of this director's conversion, many teachers and also parents of children going there have experienced conversion and a church has been birthed as a result. I had the privilege of being able to minister to this church (it was my last meeting in Trujillo). The interesting dynamic of this meeting was that I was not feeling very good at all. I had eaten something the previous day that had made me very sick the night before (with all the symptoms of flu). I just refused to eat that next day and kept going. I am sitting on the front row of this church as the worship time is happening talking to the Lord. “Lord, you know this is a healing service right? …and I'm very sick right now and I really need Your help”. As soon as I stood to start ministering, I forgot I wasn't feeling good. It's like the anointing compensated for it and we had a great time. Many people experienced healing in their bodies, including the director of the school, and there was great joy in our time together.

-------------------- School Director Testifying Of Healing ----- Lady Being Healed In Her Neck

Some of the healings that took place were: lower back pain (kidney), upper back pain, shoulder pain and immobility, headaches, stomach inflammation, deaf ears opened, deliverance from demonic activity, inner healing of broken hearts, foot pain, knee pain, paralysis on left side of face, cancer (two recent reports in an email from Pastor Juan Garcia below), deliverance from fear, and many other healings that I cannot remember (I really should write them down shortly after they happen).

I had the opportunity to connect with many pastors and leaders and young people at the lunch time we had everyday at Hugo's home. It was a great time of food and fellowship and letting the Holy Spirit stir our hearts.

Here is a report from a couple pastors that we have received:

“I am writing to share that after your visit we were recalling all the beautiful things that happened during the visit. We are changed and everyone that you prayed for are healthy because God healed them with His power. There were two women, one with a tumor in her belly and one with a tumor in her breast, that were both healed of cancer….Glory to God! They have recently testified in one of our services as to the healing that they received. They are very happy. That is only two sisters in the Lord and there are a great many more that God also healed and are very happy and free as a result of your time with us…..
We hope your return is soon and we are praying for you. I want to know about the things God does as you continue ministering with praise to other churches and to the nations. Our brotherhood is already planning for when you can come visit us again.
Goodbye beloved brother,
Pastor Juan Garcia Cruz

--------------------------------------------------------------- Pastor Juan Garcia and his wife

My Dear Pastor Dave Jones,
Please receive my affection for both you and your wife and a cordial greeting in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and our prayers for the Almighty's overflowing abundand blessings.
....Your visit to Peru, and especially to Trujillo, has been a great blessing, not only to encourage us through the Word of God, but also for the healings of many borthers and sisters through your ministry.
My wife had a very painful sore throat for many days and when you prayed for her the pain disappeared. There was a lady in our church who had great pain in the finger of one of her hands. It was very painful and after you prayed for her the pain quickly left. Another sister with colic (of the stomach) was healed when you prayed for her.
I am convinced that God desires to see His children totally healed, spirit, soul and body. 1 Thess 5:23.
I hope this news will be a blessing. We pray for your ministry and your return with the Holy Spirit.
Best Regards,
Pastor Juan Jimenez B.
Principe de Paz (Prince of Peace) Church
